Requirements that reach the supplier
A good product wins the business with a regulated institution but then it stalls in security due diligence, third-party risk assessment and operational review, on questions that are rarely about what the core product does. The questions are whether it is capable of operating inside the institution in compliance with a range of internal standards and regulatory obligations that bind the institution.
The institution is not simply being difficult. The people accountable for risk are also accountable for what its suppliers do, and the same regulations and frameworks that already govern the institution make its oversight of delegated and outsourced arrangements examinable, so the institution's standards are carried into every product it depends on.
